Death of a father: evolutionary development of the concept of death

RESUMEN
Desde el CDIAP del Maresme (Centro de Desarrollo Infantil y Atención Precoz) trabajamos con niños de entre 0 y 6 años de edad. Es decir, trabajamos con familias con niños de entre 0 y 6 años.
En escasas ocasiones se ha dado la dramática circunstancia, disruptiva y emocionalmente impactante, del fallecimiento del padre a lo largo del tratamiento de grupo familiar (Martín, 2012).
Las diferentes circunstancias en las que tuvieron lugar estas muertes, nos enfrentaron al reto de comprender sus implicaciones cognitivas para el niño en desarrollo, y en las dinámicas relacionales del grupo familiar que se ponen en juego, y que conforman los objetivos del presente artículo.
Tras una revisión histórica de la literatura psicoanalítica existente, me propongo hacer una breve ilustración clínica de los casos mencionados. Trataré de ejemplificar así las consecuencias iniciales en el tratamiento, y de hacer una pequeña síntesis de los aprendizajes terapéuticos que se derivaron.
Tratando de no permanecer encorsetado por tendencias teóricas, expondré aquello que creo son las bases conceptuales del trabajo que pudimos realizar como acompañantes de semejante duelo familiar.

ABSTRACT
In our Child Development and Early Intervention Center in Maresme we work with children from 0 to 6 years of age. That is to say, we work with families with children from 0 to 6 years old.
In rare occasions we are confronted with the dramatic, disruptive and emotionally stunning circumstance of the death of the father over the course of family group therapy (Martín, 2012).
The different circumstances in which these deaths take place present us with the challenge of understanding the cognitive implications for the developing child as well as the relationship dynamics set into action within the family group, all of which constitute the aim of this article.
After a review of the existing psychoanalytical literature my intention here is to relate a brief clinical illustration of examples of the type of the cases that have been mentioned above. I will attempt to describe the initial effects in the therapy and give a short summary of what we learned in respect to these treatments.
In an effort not to confine myself only to theoretical explanations, I will present what I consider to be the basic concepts of the therapeutic labor carried out in our support of the family in mourning.
